The Tide Set
I designed The Tide Set in response to the growing number of people who are working from home. The set is inspired by the sea and replicates its meditative characteristics to create a place where a user can take a break and detach from everyday life.
The set is made using sustainably sourced ash and quilted cotton components. Both pieces can be disassembled as they use socket screws.
The chair also features an element inspired by an ocean drum that slots into the base of the chair so that the sound of the sea is created as it rocks.
The Rope Chair
I designed this chair for a NYC apartment. I constructed the frame using steel tubes, bending and brazing them together. I then used natural jute rope to give the chair a unique silhouette and make it more comfortable. I also added adjustable elements for when the rope moves over time with use.
Ceramic Necklaces
I created these necklaces with batch production in mind. They were designed to be simple to make and profitable. I used cutters that I 3D printed to be able to quickly reproduce the same shape. I used parian and stoneware clay to achieve different looks and then went on to sell many at pop-up shops.
The Parasite Chair
This chair was inspired by three words: weld, braze and parasite. I used the forge to heat and bend metal to make it look like it was growing off a chair that I recylced. I added the side table to give join the two functional parts.
Steam-bent Pegs
I created these pegs for a quick steam bending project. I made them using ash strips and bending them around a jig to produce elegant curves which I then attached to a piece that I chose because of its strong grain.
